What is Hartford Deaf Kitchen?
Hartford Deaf Kitchen is a Deaf-led food pantry created by and for the Deaf community in the Hartford, Connecticut area.Â
We provide free, healthy food in a welcoming environment where services and communication are fully accessible in American Sign Language (ASL).Â
Our goal is simple: make sure Deaf individuals and families can access food, resources, and community without communication barriers.
There are no income, documentation, or other eligibility requirements to access our pantry. Our only requirement is that you consider yourself part of the Deaf community.
Where are we?
You can find Hartford Deaf Kitchen in the Holt Building at the American School for the Deaf (ASD) at 139 North Main Street in West Hartford, CT.
When you enter the ASD campus, the Holt Building is the first building on your right. Look for the Hartford Deaf Kitchen sign.
Meet your Pantry Manager
Janeva Mosher is a Deaf woman and a proud ASL-first communicator who leads Hartford Deaf Kitchen as our Pantry Manager. She is passionate about creating a welcoming space where Deaf community members can access food, resources, and support in their own language.
Janeva’s work with Rochester Deaf Kitchen was recognized with RIT’s 2026 Bruce R. James Distinguished Public Service Award for her commitment to the community.
